ARCHETYPES; autonomous spiritual forces governing individual and collective existence that can take form in psychological complexes when the personal ego identifies with them
ASPECT; the geometrical angle shared between planets symbolizing their relationship and how they communicate or “talk” with each other; conjunction (0-5 degrees), opposition (180 degrees), trine (120 degrees), quincunx (150 degrees), sextiles (60 degrees), semi-sextile (30 degrees), and square (90 degrees)
ASTROLOGY; a language using manmade symbols of planets and stars to track the movement of living forces in the body and psyche, in society at large and in wild nature with the overall purpose of assigning meaning to the phenomena.
BIRTH DATA;tthe essential informaton to construct any horoscope: Time of Birth (am or pm?), day, month, year and place (city/country) of birth.
DEGREE; an arbitrary measure imposed on a circle, which was assigned 360 degrees, to distinguish unique angles and frequencies giving expression to the passage of time, the complexity of human experience and for telling stories
DHARMA; one’s calling, or purpose in the current life, discovered through meaningful difficulty, new experiences (novelty), and an awareness of Karma
DOGMA; the crystallization of perception into certitude; the illusion of certainty resulting in rigid thinking achieved for the payoff of righteousness; absolute belief
GOVERNOR; tthe Sign that begins or sits at the entry of any given House, symbolizing the ruling priniciple of that House, and how to access that territory
HOUSES; Astrology divides the circle of the horoscope into twelve sections, or Houses, with each one defining specific internal and/or external areas of human experience; Houses make up the most important of the three building blocks of astrology, the others being Planets and Signs; sometimes called “STATES”
IMPERMANENCE; the objective reality of the perpetual cycles of death and rebirth symbolized by astrological Pluto
KARMA; real-time consequences of whatever is produced through repetition and habit; patterns of redundancy often inherited from a previous incarnation, or past life, to help us orient in the current lifetime through familiar motifs and actions
PERSONAL; those Forces symbolized by astrological Sun on out to and including astrological Saturn that represent a series of developing stages in the maturing ego and personality, given that these Forces are sufficiently integrated.
PLANET; an orbiting heavenly body symbolizing mythologies, living forces and psychological complexes within the individual and collective psyche; sometimes called “FORCE”
POLARITY; any two contrary yet connected Forces, Signs or States expressing two parts of a larger changing whole; any “charged”, dynamic set of polar opposites creating a wider spectrum between them than either can produce alone
SELF-REALIZATION; a process for using Astrology and the personal horoscope as a map for accessing, integrating and embodying the territory of real life experience and the realization of one’s innermost potentials
SIGN; the style any given Planet, or Force, expresses itself through; the specific color , character and quality of an energy; sometimes called “STYLE”
STEREOTYPES; clichés that carry partial truth; the truth about Sun Sign astrology columns; generalizations and parodies
TRANSITS; the measure and duration of a Planet’s orbit around the Sun in relation to a given horoscope’s fixed planetary positions; a predictive astrology technique to track the timing, but not the causes, of change and energy shifts
TRANSPERSONAL; those Forces symbolized by astrological Uranus, Neptune and Pluto that represent the objective realities of uncertainty, unity and impermanence (respectively) that can be experienced by the personal ego as an “outside shock”, or catalyst, for personal growth, individuation, and Self-realization; beyond yet also inclusive of the personal
UNCERTAINTY; the objective reality of perpetual unknowns symbolized by astrological Uranus
UNITY; the objective reality of nondualistic indivisibility symbolized by astrological Neptune
