Week Six: Transits
On Mapping the Timing of Change; October and November, 2022
"Fate is in the cards; destiny is how you play them..."
INTRODUCTION
I use transits to track the timing of change but not their causes. It would be foolish to blame Saturn for the frustrations I experience after ignoring my limitations or, to scapegoat Pluto for my naivete around the objective truths of impermanence, loss and death. The passage of planets in their orbits mark the duration of time as we know it and also, of timing. I also do not believe the planets control our fates here on earth. By studying the transits as the timing of change, I can make more conscious choices to align with the forces that be, rather than ignore or fight them.
OCTOBER and NOVEMBER 2022 - EPHEMERIS:
Transits can be tracked by using an Ephemeris. The one I recommend in book form is "THE AMERCIAN EPHEMERIS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY, 2001-2050 at Noon" (note: you do not need this book to complete this XA course). This EPHEMERIS lists the daily positions for all the planets from 2001 to 2050. Many astrology software programs alredy have a built-in Ephemeris. You can locate day-by-day transits online. The astrology program I have been using for the past twenty years is TimePassages (available for PC and Mac). For our purposes here, we turn to the months of OCTOBER and NOVEMBER of 2022:

Note how the vertical column on the far left lists all the days of the month. The planetary symbols are listed at the top horizontal column. The rest of the vertical columns list the degree of each transiting planet for each day. With this graph, we can tell exactly what degree and sign each planet is on every day of October 2022. For example, on October 18th, Saturn is at 18 degrees AQUARIUS. Look at October 28 (far left column) and you'll notice Jupiter at 0 degrees ARIES, the day before it retrogrades back into PISCES. Using the predictive technique of "Transits", we can track Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto to see how the timing of these forces might interface with our own charts and synchronize with our daily lives.
HOW LONG DOES A TRANSIT LAST?
The duration of transits depends on the transiting planet and the specific aspects it makes with natal planets (see pages 139-53 in the XA book), Many astrologers use looser orbs than I do to define their aspects. I prefer to draw my orbs tighter to articulate what I call the essential geometry or crystal of the chart. I make exceptions with the transits of Uranus. Neptune and Pluto which I allow looser orbs (6-10 degrees) when aspecting personal planets.

"My Transits"
After reading the above course material on transits of The Moon's Nodes, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, write up a report on two transits you have been undergoing in October &/or will undergo in November of 2022 as they aspect any of your natal forces &/or ASCENDANT, NADIR, DESCENDENT, MIDHEAVEN. Remember to include the State the transit is passing through as that is where the transit energy starts and impacts all other forces from. For example, transit of Uranus in Taurus (16 degrees) now inhabits my 6th State while opposing my 12th State Scorpio Sun. I look to my state of health and employment structures to see how these areas are being shaken up and rrearranged during this current XA course. My sense of identity (the Sun) is now being redefined more by my experiences than by my beliefs. Happy about that.
NOTE: If none of the personal or transpersonal transits are currently aspecting any of your planets at this time, write about two transitting planets passing through two of your States.
