Antero Alli ~ video/filmography (since 1991)
ANTERO was born 11/11/1952 in Helsinki, Finland where he maintains citizenship. He began writing and directing his idiosyncratic feature films in 1993. His highly personal iconoclastic style is influenced by a deep history of experimental theatre (since 1975). His films have been extensively reviewed at filmthreat.com and have screened on the west coast arthouse circuit since 1995. Between 1992 and 2002, he curated the Nomad VideoFilm Festival, a west coast touring venue of experimental shorts. In late 2015, he took a five year hiatus from filmmaking to direct and produce five intermedia performance rituals while creating music videos with his partner, Sylvi in Portland Oregon where they currently reside. Antero returned to cinema in 2020 with "The Vanishing Field" and in 2021 with "The Alchemy of Sulphur". Soon after his 2022 feature, "Tracer", premiered on Autumn Equinox to a full house at Portland's Clinton Street Theatre, he withdrew from the public sphere to pursue his private interests. Antero is also the author of numerous esoteric books.

"Alli's films are not for the easily distracted. They are challenging and
sometimes cryptic in their dissection of human emotions and societal
interactions. Repeated viewings, however, reveal layers of wisdom
and wit that may not have been obvious in the initial screening."
